I just got out of dance a few hours ago and I am tired! We had a three hour rehearsal today. It was a dress rehearsal for the Arts Festival coming up in a week and a half. We’re going to perform there on Tuesday, April 22nd. Next weekend, we’re going to a dance competition. So we spent Friday and Saturday rehearsing for that. On Friday after school, I had dance rehearsal from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, I had dance rehearsal starting at 8:00 a.m., then regular ballet class from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., then more rehearsals until 3:30 p.m. After my last rehearsal, I was a helper at our studio’s dance workshop. It was a fundraiser to help my dance company go to Disneyworld this summer. And then there was today’s rehearsal from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. So, in all I was at the dance studio for twenty hours over the last three days! My mom and dad are always talking to me about commitment and dance is a big commitment for me. I love to dance, and it gets really busy this time of year, so I know that I have to put in a lot of extra time at the dance studio. It’s at times like these that I have to remind myself just how much I love it, because I am sure tired and my muscles ache from all that dancing. My parents don’t always like how much time I spend at the dance studio, but they let me decide how I want to spend my time. I want to see how far I can go in dance and in order to be good, I have to practice and practice and practice. And it takes up a lot of my free time. Other than school, I don’t have a lot of time to do other things, but if I want to perfect my technique, then I have to make a choice and right now I choose to keep on dancing! My advice to all the tweens out there is to do what you love and spend the time it takes to be really good at it.
Here’s a couple of pictures of me dancing at last year’s Arts Festival.
