It’s me, Ainsley. Today was a busy day, but it was a really fun day too. First of all, it’s my birthday. I’m officially twelve years old. I celebrated my birthday earlier in the week with my family, but today I got lots of birthday wishes from my friends at school. The girls at my lunch table sang happy birthday to me and I brought a red velvet cake bundtlet with cream cheese icing from Nothing Bundt Cakes to share with everybody.
It was also Pink Out Day at school today. Everybody was supposed to wear pink in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is a terrible disease and a form of cancer that affects women the most. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34. At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options. After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. NBCF’s mission is to help women by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival. That’s why NBCF works with hospitals to provide free mammograms to women in all 50 states.
Well, a big group of us girls (and some boys too) wore pink tutus to school to honor breast cancer. We all looked super cute. So, my Outfit of the Day (OOTD) today is a pink turtleneck underneath a charcoal colored birthday shirt (This is my birthday shirt) and a pink tutu. The pink tutu was pretty short so I layered it over a longer black tutu. I also wore black legging and sparkly black combat boots. Oh yeah, check out the pink ribbon in my hair too. My mom braided it into my braids. Finally, my outfit qualifies me for Tutu Tuesday! Take a look at what I wore below…….
