Today is Halloween. It is also called Allhalloween, All Hallows’ Eve, or All Saints’ Eve. Halloween is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on October 31st. This day is the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day, a period of time dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers. According to many scholars, All Hallows’ Eve is a Christian feast initially influenced by Celtic harvest festivals. Typical festive Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, decorating or carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted house attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. Tonight I went trick-or-treating, of course!
This year, I thought I’d move away from last year’s scary costume to one that is fun and quirky. At my dance studio, we were allowed to dress in our costumes for class all week. A couple of girls forgot to wear theirs, so we got clothes from the lost and found box (it’s pretty big) and made them crazy costumes…. And for some strange reason, everybody kept asking me for gum. LOL! My costume is a Gumball Machine. They were all desperate for a treat from me. A couple of girls even wanted to open my costume up and get the gum. Ha Ha. They are really foam balls. My mom bought my costume from Chasing Fireflies. Check out my pictures below and look, I even dressed up Ziggy. He’s Count Zigula!
