Easy Breezy Dresses – Great for Summer!

You know how much I like dresses – I like them a lot! I have quite a few dressy dresses, but I also have dresses that are pretty casual too. This blog post is devoted to my casual dresses. They are made of the same cotton as a tee-shirt and I can wear them in lots of different ways – with long sleeve tee-shirts underneath or without, with my Converse or with flats, but ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS with my signature pair of leggings underneath! Hey, that’s my look, okay! And yes, you’re going to notice that apparently I have a thing for stripes. These dresses are so casual that I am going to take them all to Disney World with me. It’s hot where I live, but it’s plenty hot in Florida this time of year too! I have some new leggings and they are capri leggings, so I can keep cool in my casual dresses while I’m riding the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train! They are perfect for summer weather.

Love That Hanna Andersson!

So, if you’ve been following my blog you know by now that I really like Hanna Andersson. I have several of their dresses. They are super cute and whether you are a girly-girl or a tomboy, you can dress them up or dress them down. And at least where I live, Hanna Andersson is a catalog/Internet store. They are not in the mall, so if your mom orders you clothes from there, then they will be different than some of the clothes you see other girls wearing. I am at the top size range that they sell, so it’s almost time for me to say good-bye to my beloved Hanna Andersson. Soon I’m going to have to find a new store to get my cute dresses from. I like Hanna Andersson because they have stylish clothes that aren’t too fussy. They are colorful and simple and aren’t too grown up yet. Everybody at school complements me on the clothes that I get from there. And they aren’t too expensive. I see that a lot of the fashion blogs focus on expensive designer clothes, which are really pretty, but I’m pretty sure that my mom isn’t going to buy me any clothes from Chanel, even if that’s my middle name. And I am also pretty sure that I wouldn’t want to wear those designer clothes to school because I’m eleven. And when you’re eleven, you have to go to P.E. And when you have to go to P.E., you have to play dodge ball even though you hate it. And the P.E. teacher doesn’t care if I’m wearing clothes that are designer and expensive. So, now that that’s settled, I’d recommend that you take a look at Hanna Andersson. The pictures in today’s blog show one of my favorite Hanna Andersson dresses worn in three different ways. I like it so much that I got it in three colors! You can change up the look of the dress by wearing different accessories – like barrettes, headbands, earrings, necklaces, t-shirts, leggings, and shoes.

Last Week of Dance – Recital Time and New Shoes for Summer

Good morning everybody.  Well, it’s the last week of our regular dance year, which starts in August every year and ends in May with the dance recital, just like the school year.  Yesterday, I skipped dance class to go perform with my school’s Honor Choir at my school district’s Arts Festival.  It was held at my brother’s high school.  I got to wear my Chicago costume once again!  But today, it’s back to business.  I am going to be dancing every day for the next seven days, getting ready for recital.  This afternoon I have four hours of dance rehearsal.  Tomorrow night I will be at the studio for three hours.  On Tuesday, we have blocking rehearsal for the show, which will last for four hours.  On Wednesday, I just have an hour of dance.  My dad and I are going to the studio to learn the choreography for the Father Daughter Dance, which we will perform at recital.  On Thursday and Friday, I have dress rehearsal (three hours on Thursday night for Show #1 and three hours on Friday night for Show #2).  Yes, you read that correctly, there are two shows.  And then FINALLY……Saturday is recital day!  Yay!  Show #1 starts at 10:00 a.m. and Show #2 starts at 2:30 p.m.  They both will be about two hours long!  I am going to be tired as heck on Saturday night, but I will be finished with dance for a few weeks until summer dance starts up again.

So, that’s my crazy busy dance schedule for the week, but what I really want to do is talk about shoes.  After I performed at the Arts Festival yesterday, my mom took me to the dance store to buy some new tap shoes.  My feet have grown and my old tap shoes were killing me, so I got a new pair of ballet shoes too.  Anyway, it got me to thinking about shoes, not dance shoes, but REAL shoes.  I was looking on the Internet last night and I saw some shoes that I really want.  I love shoes.  And it’s almost summer, so I say it’s shoe shopping time!  In the meantime, I looked through my closet at the shoes that I already have.  Some of those are getting tight too, but I try to have enough shoes to go with all my outfits.  I have boots and flats and tennis shoes (Chuck Taylor’s to be exact).  Take a look at my shoe collection below.

Black and White and Stripes and Beetlejuice

Happy Monday! So, you know the Beetlejuice dance that I told you about yesterday? Well, I forgot to show you pictures of me in my costume and with my tombstone. But, before I do, I wanted to tell you that the funny thing is that at the beginning of the school year when I was shopping for new school clothes; I got some black and white striped leggings. Yes, leggings……AGAIN! At the time we bought them, my mom said that they reminded her of Beetlejuice, a movie that came out when she was in high school. I’d heard of it, but I’d never seen it. And then I found out that one of the dances that we were doing at my dance studio this year was going to be Beetlejuice! What a coincidence. Since then, I’ve seen the movie. I love our costumes and I love my leggings, but the movie……….MEH! Take a look at me rockin’ my Beetlejuice inspired gear on the stage and off!
